Saint Michael's, Abertillery

Churches

We have a massive building right at the centre of Abertillery.

We are getting nearer to our vision - to see it open daily and used for the benefit of the whole community.

As a living church the main purpose of Saint Michael's is the worship of Almighty God.

But worship is a lot more than the prayers we say on Sundays. It includes the celebration of all that is good in life, the sharing of gifts and resources, and the provision of a place of welcome and friendship and healing for all who come through the church doors.

Our vision is of a building busy and buzzing with people of all ages engaged in a variety of educational, social, life-enhancing and community-building activities; a place for people to meet and learn, grow relationships, develop skills, find recreation and inner peace.

Thursday coffee

Saint Michael’s is open every Thursday morning
for coffee and light refreshments (high quality—low prices!).
Anybody can come along in for a rest
from Market Day shopping
and a quiet chat with friends.
Friendly volunteer staff at your service!
There is also a regular Bric a Brac Stall
where remarkable bargains are often
waiting to be discovered!

Pensions and other advice

Officers from the Pensions Service,
single parents, carers organisations
are available in St Michael’s
every Thursday morning between 10am and 12noon
to answer clients’ queries and offer helpful advice
on pensions and available benefits.

Other activities

St Michael’s is also used by StayWarm, Care for Carers, and other groups serving the community.
It is a favourite concert venue with the local Orpheus choirs on account of its excellent musical acoustic.

The building is available for exhibitions, sales of work, fayres, concerts, and meetings of various kinds.
If you are looking for a venue for a particular event or activity, why not give us a ring on 01495 212246!

We've got plenty of space!
